My Dream Toy for the month of July is the Motorola Razr mobile cell phone. I've always liked the Motorola phones and especially the flip phones. I waited a long time for the original Motorola StarTac phone to drop to affordable pricing — it was originally available at about $800 including signing up for a service contract.
Now, the phone I want is a Motorola Razr. It's small, it's sleek, it's sharp-looking anodized aluminum, and it's ultra light -- only 3.35 ounces. It is the ultimate "guy toy."
Communications specs: it is a GSM phone with four transmission bands (useful if you travel internationally), it has Bluetooth, and it can connect to your computer with USB (I assume with Bluetooth, too). It even does POP3 and SMTP email (like I'd want to get all that spam on my cell phone!).
One of these days... Prices have really come down on it. Cingular in my area has it for $199 with a 2 year contract. Best Buy is offering it at $99, but for new line activation only — that lets them out because I don't want to change my phone number. Amazon.com has the phone for $149.99.
Keep checking Amazon for specials -- they have been creating a new "get it free" special about every two weeks! Alternatively, Amazon.com has it for $299 without any service contract committment.
